| Poppies and other wildflowers - including fiddlenecks and filaree, usually the earliest of the valley's native flowers - are blooming at spots along the roads leading to the reserve. Besides the poppies - which right now have the thickest blooms on south-facing slopes outside the reserve's boundaries - other wildflowers are blooming at the reserve and elsewhere around the valley: pygmy lupines, cream cups, redstem filaree and fiddlenecks. And other lupines in purples, reds and blues pepper fields of gold fiddlenecks. |
