atrial fibrillation wave.
a waveform recorded in electroneuromyographic and nerve conduction tests. It appears on supramaximal stimulation of a motor nerve and is caused by antidromic transmission of a stimulus. The F wave is used in studies of motor nerve function in the arms and legs.

F response An undulation of an EMG that corresponds to the time between application of a stimulus to the axon of the α motor neuron as it propagates andromically to the anterior horn of the spinal cord, and then returns orthodromically along the same axon. See Electromyography.
