hydrops /hy·drops/ (hi´drops) [L.] edema. fetal hydrops , hydrops feta´lis gross edema of the entire body, with severe anemia, occurring in hemolytic disease of the newborn.
hydrops [L.] abnormal accumulation of serous fluid in the tissues or in a body cavity; called also dropsy. See also hydramnios (hydrops amnii), hydrallantois (hydrops allantois). fetal hydrops, hydrops fetalis gross edema of the entire body of the newborn, in hemolytic disease of the newborn. hydrops uteri see hydramnios, hydrallantois.
