FEES, service mark for fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing. fees veterinarians' charges rendered to clients for services. They include charges for such things as hospitalization, mileage, drugs supplied and materials and services used. These are quite separate from, and should be recorded so, the professional fees charged for examination, diagnosis, advice on prognosis and prevention and treatment including surgery and obstetrics. Justifiable professional fees are based on the amount of time spent on the case, with a varying fee per hour depending on the difficulty and complexity of the problem, and on the specialist superiority of the veterinarian. Most veterinarians charge on a fee for service basis, including procedure-based fees for individual surgical procedures, but large animal practices sometimes arrange fees with individual clients on a contractual basis with agreement on an hourly fee or a fee per head per year.
