n.
A factor in the clotting of blood that forms a complex with tissue thromboplastin and calcium to activate the prothrombinase, thus acting to accelerate the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin. Also called convertin, cothromboplastin, proconvertin, serum accelerator, serum accelerator globulin, serum prothrombin conversion accelerator.

Mayer and a team of physicians in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia treated 303 bleeding-stroke patients with an intravenous drug called recombinant activated factor VII (rFVIIa), which certain hemophilia patients receive under the brand name NovoSeven.
Another patient, a 28-year-old man, had been diagnosed with a factor VII deficiency (activity: 20%) during childhood, but he did not undergo detailed analysis or experience any post-tonsillectomy bleeding.
People with high levels of fibrinogen and activated factor VII have a higher risk of heart attacks.
