face-bow (fās´bo) a device used in dentistry to record the positional relations of the maxillary arch to the temporomandibular joints and to orient dental casts in this same relationship to the opening axis of the articulator.
face-bow Etymology: L, facies + AS, boga a device resembling a caliper for measuring the relationship of the maxilla to the temporomandibular joints. The measurement is used in the fabrication of denture casts and major restorative procedures involving natural teeth.
