fabella /fa·bel·la/ (fah-bel´ah) pl. fabel´lae   [L.] a sesamoid fibrocartilage occasionally found on the gastrocnemius muscle.
fa·bel·la (f-bl)
n. pl. fa·bel·lae (-bl)
A small sesamoid bone in the tendon of the lateral head of the gastrocnemius muscle.

fabella
pl. fabellae [L.] a sesamoid bone in the origin of the gastrocnemius muscle. Present in carnivores; most species have two that articulate with the femoral condyles. See Table 10.
