Fab [f ragment, a ntigen-b inding] originally, either of two identical fragments, each containing an antigen combining site, obtained by papain cleavage of the immunoglobulin IgG molecule; now generally used as an adjective to refer to an “arm” of any immunoglobulin monomer. digoxin immune Fab (ovine) a preparation of antigen-binding fragments derived from specific antibodies produced against digoxin in sheep; used as an antidote to digoxin and digitoxin overdose.
