the presence of a gas between the endothoracic fascia-pleural layer and the adjacent chest wall.

extrapleural pneumothorax

a condition in which a pocket of air or gas forms between the endothoracic fascia-pleura layer and the adjacent chest wall. See also pneumothorax.

extrapleural pneumothorax

The formation of a pneumothorax by introducing air into the space between the pleura and the inside of the rib cage.
