Prager has led research on another experimental device, the DOE-funded Madison Symmetric Toms, directing a group that was the first in the world to completely characterize the chaotic flow of the charged gases swirling within.
Cooley was censured by the medical school and the National Heart Institute for using the experimental device, and he and DeBakey traded accusations about their research.
Results of the study, presented at the annual American Headache Society meeting in Boston, found that the experimental device is safe and effective in eliminating headaches when administered during the onset of the migraine.
