Etymology: L, exhaurire, to drain out; Gk, psyche, mind, osis, condition

an abnormal mental condition attributable to physical exhaustion. The main symptom, a delirious state, may develop in some explorers, mountain climbers, persons lost in the wilderness, and terminally ill patients. See also exhaustion delirium.
