Etymology: Gk, epi, above, thele, nipple; Fr, débridement, incision
the removal of the entire inner lining and the attachment from the gingival or periodontal pocket with a gingival curettage. Also called canal débridement, deepithelialization.

The removal of the entire epithelial lining or attachment epithelium from a periodontal pocket.
