ensilage

stored green feed preserved by encouraging primary fermentation to a sufficient level of acetic acid. Good ensilage keeps well for several years and has high nutritive value and palatability. Some silage adjuvants are available to encourage proper fermentation. Called also silage. See also pyrexia-pruritus-hemorrhage syndrome.
