the vaginal erectile structure of the female homologous to the corpora cavernosa of the penis. It consists of two corpora cavernosa within a dense layer of fibrous membrane, joined along their inner surfaces by an incomplete fibrous septum. It is situated beneath the anterior labia commissure, partially hidden between the anterior extremities of the labia minora and partly covered by a prepuce. clitoral, adj.
