endurance rides

    0.01 sec.
endurance rides
equine performance tests requiring contestants to complete a course of 80 to 150 km in 1 to 2 days. They create special problems in equine sports medicine. These include the exhausted horse syndrome, evidence of impending pulmonary edema, heat exhaustion, exertional rhabdomyolysis and a variety of disturbances of acid-base balance. The problem for the veterinarian is to decide whether horses should be allowed to continue in the contest. See also exhaustion syndrome.
