endothelial polymegethism

    0.03 sec.
polymegethism, endothelial
Variation in the size of the endothelial cells of the cornea as a result of disturbed metabolism. It may be induced by contact lens wear, surgery, trauma or disease processes. Endothelial polymegethism is detected by observation with a specular microscope or a high magnification slit-lamp. If the condition is caused by contact lens wear, management consists of refitting the patient with daily wear contact lenses of higher oxygen transmissibility. See acidosis; corneal endothelium; specular microscope; endothelial polymorphism.
