On occasion a nonspecific enanthem (Forscheimer''s spots) of pinpoint red macules and petechiae can be seen over the soft palate and uvula just before or with the exanthem.
Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a common febrile illness of early childhood, characterized by 3-4 days of fever and the development of a vesicular enanthem on the buccal mucosa, gums, and palate and a papulovesicular exanthem on the hands, feet, and buttocks (1).
