A sharp sound heard on auscultation in early systole over the aortic or pulmonic area when the aorta or pulmonary artery is dilated.

ejection sound,
a sharp, clicking sound heard early in systole, coinciding with the onset of either right or left ventricular ejection. Aortic ejection sounds are commonly heard in aortic valvular stenosis, aortic insufficiency, coarctation of the aorta, and hypertension with aortic dilation. Pulmonary ejection sounds are heard in mild to moderate pulmonary stenosis, pulmonary hypertension, and dilation of the pulmonary artery. See also ejection click.
