ecgonine /ec·go·nine/ (ek´go-nin) the final basic product obtained by hydrolysis of cocaine and several related alkaloids; e. methyl ester is the major hydrolytic metabolite of cocaine detectable in blood by laboratory testing.

They have now isolated from the microbes an enzyme that splits cocaine into benzoic acid and ecgonine methyl ester. A second Entropin patent application, titled "Benzoylecgonine, Ecgonine and Ecgonidine Derivatives," is currently under consideration by the EPO. DAS' novel protein cocaine conjugate provides for high affinity antisera for the intended targets, as contrasted to the numerous antisera and monoclonal antibodies which bind preferentially to the inactive metabolite, benzoyl ecgonine. |
