DPs’ prepare for worst case scenarios—solar flares, economic collapse, pandemics, nuclear war, terrorism, food shortages, etc.—and may go as far as building and supplying shelters in which they can store food and supplies, and which will protect against disasters (e.g., bomb shelters).
