The federal government has blocked the move since the tea contains the drug dimethyltryptamine (DMT), which is a controlled substance. The Customs Service and the Drug Enforcement Administration say ayahuasca is illegal because it contains dimethyltryptamine (DMT),which is banned by the Controlled Substances Act. Dimethyltryptamine, commonly know as DMT, is the hallucinogenic compound that occurs in the creation of the hoasca. |
