cuticle /cu·ti·cle/ (ku´tĭ-k'l)
1. a layer of more or less solid substance covering the free surface of an epithelial cell.
2. eponychium (1).
3. a horny secreted layer.

dental cuticle  a film on the enamel and cementum of some teeth, external to the primary cuticle, with which it combines, deposited by the epithelial attachment as it migrates along the tooth.
enamel cuticle , primary cuticle a film on the enamel of unerupted teeth, consisting primarily of degenerating ameloblast remnants after completion of enamel formation.

Either of two thin layers, one clear and structureless, one cellular, covering the crown of newly erupted teeth and abraded by mastication. Also called adamantine membrane.
