making a decision can be done in three principal ways and many variations and mixtures of the methods: (1) rote, the decision is made on the basis of a set of rules and no selectivity is required; (2) intuitive, decisions are made on the basis of cerebrally stored information and reasoning systems which permit a fast response. The increasing complexity of veterinary clinical questions increases the probability of error; (3) decision analysis, a means of solving complicated problems by including all of the factors that could possibly affect the outcome of the analysis in a series of sequential questions. This gives each of the factors an opportunity of affecting the outcome. The chance of error by omission can be eliminated but the process is prolonged.

a diagrammatic representation of the possible outcomes and events used in decision analysis. The questions to be asked in an analysis of a question are arranged as a series of nodes each with a yes and no branch, creating an arborization effect. Q. Can I have a MRI of the knee if I have hemostatic clips in the brain?(also called aneurysm clips)?

A. my grandma had the same problem- they said no... but from a good reason. think of it, it's a giant and powerful magnet. you have metallic clips that hold an aneurysm in the brain. if it'll move and tear up the blood vessels- your knee will be the least of your problems.

Q. Does anyone have information on Bipolar "blackouts" or know what they're really called? My boyfriend is bipolar and experienced a blackout a few weeks ago during which he did something completely out of character. A crime was committed and he has since been arrested. He's having trouble coping as he has no memory of the crime. He was on Wellbuterin and a doctor prescribed steroids and vicodin for a crushed disc. The chemicals may have led him into this blackout. He is a wonderful loving person and is now facing a life sentence for this terrible thing that happened that he had no conscious control over. They will not continue his medications in jail and he is not receiving mental or medical treatment. Is there anyone out there that can help me find some answers?

A. AKToad I am so sorry to hear about this situation you and your partner are facing. I havent heard about blackouts as a result of bipolar disorder, however perhaps this situation happened due to the different types of medications he was on. Was he drinking or taking any illegal drugs during the time that this situation happened? Drinking or drug use while on medications can lead to blackouts. I would suggest now getting him a good lawyer and seek a mental health defence. All of us are essentially responsible for our actions well or not so unfortunately he is going to have to fight for his freedom and he is going to have to work with mental health specialists to come up with effective treatments that can convince the legal community and the public that he is safe to be a member of society again. I wish you both luck and i hope everything works out.

Q. I am confused why it’s called pregnancy…..can someone….please… I have heard of the dangerous ectopic pregnancy and want to know a little more about it as I am confused why it’s called pregnancy…..can someone….please…

A. actually it is called pregnancy because IT IS A PREGNANCY.
but, it happens NOT in normal ways it has to be. in normal condition, the conception will happen in tuba falopii, then few days later the embryo (zygote) will be implanted into the uterus.

in ectopic pregnancy, the transportation of the zygote doesn't happen normally, it can be slower or even cannot make its way into the uterus. if the implantation then occurs in other part rather than endometrium of the uterus, then it is called an ectopic pregnancy.

since it's implanted NOT in the normal place, in the future it will be more likely to develop some problems during the pregnancy.
