The elimination of cerebral function in an animal by removing the cerebrum, cutting across the brainstem, or severing certain arteries in the brainstem, as may be done for experimentation.

the process of removing the brain or of cutting the brainstem above the level of the red nucleus, thus eliminating cerebral function.
