For example, lamium maculatum, known as dead nettle, is a sparkling ground cover.
Although mulch made from shredded leaves and wood chips is an effective deterrent to snails, it harbors slugs that chew holes in the foliage of certain ornamentals such as hydrangea, dead nettle (Lamium maculatum), and angel wing jasmine (Jasminum nitidum).
The many cultivars of dead nettle (Lamium maculatum) are the ground covers of choice for shady situations.
