a superficial fascial layer incorporating smooth muscular tissue in the integument of the scrotum; it also forms the scrotal septum.

the thin layer of subcutaneous tissue underlying the skin of the scrotum, consisting mainly of nonstriated muscle fibers (the dartos muscle). Also called dartos, tunica dartos.
