Usage notes: informal.
a form of red-green color blindness. It is genetically transmitted as a sex-linked autosomal-recessive trait.

daltonism
Term used formerly to designate colour blindness, usually deutan, so named because John Dalton (1766-1844) was the first to describe his own anomaly. See defective colour vision.
