Etymology: Gk, dakryon + stenos, narrow, osis, condition

an abnormal stricture of the nasolacrimal duct, occurring either as a congenital condition or as a result of infection or trauma. Dacryocystorhinostomy may be required to correct this condition. Compare dacryocystitis.
