cytidine /cy·ti·dine/ (si´ti-den) a purine nucleoside consisting of cytosine and ribose, a constituent of RNA and important in the synthesis of a variety of lipid derivatives. Symbol C.
cytidine triphosphate  (CTP) an energy-rich nucleotide that acts as an activated precursor in the biosynthesis of RNA and other cellular constituents.

A white crystalline nucleoside composed of one molecule each of cytosine and ribose. Also called cytosine ribonucleoside.
