Cystadenocarcinoma is a rare malignant neoplasm of the salivary gland. MECs must be distinguished from necrotizing sialometaplasia, chronic sialadenitis, cystadenoma, cystadenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma, clear cell carcinoma (not otherwise specified), and metastatic tumors. 14) The only exception to this behavior is seen with tumors that have a predominantly papilliferous arrangement; these tumors are more aggressive and would be better classified as papillary cystadenocarcinomas. |
