The process by which the body uses minerals to build bone structure.

the addition of any mineral to the body.

the deposition of calcium salts in abnormal locations, e.g. in uremia, hypervitaminosis D.

the interface between the unmineralized osteoid and the mineralized bone. Called also phosphate ridge.
heterotopic mineralization
see ectopic mineralization (above).
metastatic mineralization
calcification of unusual tissues leading to the development of metastatic bone.
