Culex /Cu·lex/ (ku´leks) a genus of mosquitoes found throughout the world, many species of which are vectors of disease-producing organisms.
Culex [koo′leks] a genus of humpbacked mosquitoes (Culicidae). It includes species that transmit viral encephalitis and filariasis. Culex pipiens is the most widely distributed mosquito globally. Culex a genus of mosquitoes found throughout the world; cause insect worry and many species transmit various infectious agents, e.g. microfilariae, apicomplexan parasites and viruses, such as those of Japanese encephalitis and equine encephalomyelitis.
