bridge (brij)
1. a structure connecting two separate points, including parts of an organ.
2. a fixed partial denture.

cantilever bridge  a bridge having an artificial tooth attached beyond the point of anchorage of the bridge.
cytoplasmic bridge 
disulfide bridge  see under bond.
extension bridge  cantilever b.
intercellular bridge  a misnomer for the appearance of the junction of epithelial cells at a desmosome as a result of dehydration during fixation; it was formerly thought to constitute a bridge for cytoplasmic continuity (cytoplasmic bridge).
protoplasmic bridge  a strand of protoplasm connecting two secondary spermatocytes, occurring as a result of incomplete cytokinesis.

2. The upper part of the ridge of the nose formed by the nasal bones.
3. A fixed or removable replacement for one or several but not all of the natural teeth, usually anchored at each end to a natural tooth.
