Interestingly, when the tree was constructed with a combination of cow and yak lysozymes, the YML and cow kidney lysozyme were tightly grouped first and then grouped with cow milk lysozyme and a published yak stomach lysozyme gene.
The results showed that the YML was more closely related to the cow kidney lysozyme and the previously reported yak stomach lysozyme was closely related to cow milk and the cow [PSI]NS4 pseudogene.
