n.
1. The ligament that connects the dorsal aspect of the neck of a rib to the ventral aspect of the corresponding transverse process; middle costotransverse ligament.
2. The short quadrangular ligament that passes across behind the costotransverse joint from the tip of the transverse process to the posterior surface of the neck of the rib; lateral costotransverse ligament.
3. The fibrous band that extends upward from the neck of a rib to the transverse process of the next higher vertebra; superior costotranverse ligament.
