corpus spongiosum

[spon′jē·ō′səm]
one of the cylinders of spongy tissue, with the corpora cavernosa, on the dorsum of the penis, erectile tissue, from bulb to glans. It contains the urethra and erectile tissue within labia minora.

corpus spongiosum

A cylindrical mass of spongy tissue that surrounds the male urethra and maintains it in an opened position, which allows the urethra to act as a conduit for semen during ejaculation.
