corneal fragility

The ability of the cornea to withstand damage. It is quantified by measuring the corneal damage threshold (CDT) (or corneal epithelial fragility threshold (CFT)), that is the lowest pressure exerted on the cornea (using, e.g., a Cochet-Bonnet aesthesiometer) which produces some ruptured epithelial cells; they can be seen after fluorescein instillation with a slit-lamp and UV filter.
