radiograph /ra·dio·graph/ (-graf″) the film produced by radiography.
ra·di·o·graph (rd--grf)
n.
An image produced on a radiosensitive surface, such as a photographic film, by radiation other than visible light, as by x-rays passed through an object.

Radiograph
The actual picture or film produced by an x-ray study.
Mentioned in: Skull X Rays

radiograph
[rā′dē·əgraf′]
an x-ray image. Also called radiogram.

radiograph(s) (rā´dēōgraf),
n an image or picture produced on a radiation-sensitive film emulsion by exposure to ionizing radiation directed through an area, region, or sub-stance of interest, followed by chemical processing of the film. It basically depends on the differential absorption of radiation directed through heterogeneous media. See also x-ray.
radiograph, bite-wing (BWX),
n a form of dental radiograph that reveals approximately the coronal halves of the maxillary and mandibular teeth and portions of the interdental alveolar septa on the same film. Bite-wings can be used at any point in the dental arch. Older term:
x-ray.

Bite-wing radiograph.
radiograph, body-section,
n radiograph produced by rotation of the film and roentgen ray source around the region of interest in opposite directions during exposure, so as to blur interposed anatomic structures outside the region of interest.
radiograph, cephalometric
n a radiograph of the head made with precise reproducible relationships between radiograph source, subject, and film. The generally accepted distances between radiograph source and the center of the subject are 5 feet (152.4 cm) or 150 cm. The distance between subject and film is usually 12 cm but may be standardized at a different value or varied with patient size and recorded for each exposure. The two standard orientations are lateral (profile) and posteroanterior.

radiograph, composite,
n radiograph made by superimposing a radiograph of osseous tissue whose exposed border has been cut away on a radiograph of soft tissue for the purpose of detecting radiographic information concerning both the soft tissues and the osseous tissues of the head and face from a single radiographic view.
radiograph, contrast media,
n radiograph that records the shadow images of the secretory apparatus of any of the salivary glands, body cavities, or fistulous tracts after the injection of a liquid radiopaque solution.
radiograph, extraoral,
n radiograph produced on a film placed extraorally.
radiograph, follow-up,
n radiographs made during and after therapy to follow the progress or regress of a disease, determine the course of healing, or ascertain the results of treatment.
radiographs, full mouth (FMX),
n a visual image of the entire oral cavity produced by radiography. They are repeated often in order to track a patient's oral history.
radiograph, high kilovoltage,
n a radiograph taken using a higher kilovoltage than normal. This method provides a lower contrast film with more interpretive details and can be developed in a shorter time, but it subjects the surrounding areas to more radiation.
radiograph, intraoral,
n radiograph produced by placing a radiographic film within the oral cavity. See also radiography, oral.
radiograph, microscopic examination,
radiograph, occlusal,
n a special type of intraoral radiograph made with the film held between the occluded teeth.
radiograph, oral,
n the radiographic representation of shadow images of all the tissues, structures, and regions of the oral cavity and its adjacent areas and associated parts.
radiograph, panoramic,
n a tomogram of the jaws, taken with a specialized machine designed to present a panoramic view of the full circumferential length of the jaws on a single film. Also known by several brand names of machines, most of which incorporate
pan into the name.
radiograph, reference,
n a training tool in which ideal dental radiographs are compared with recently taken radiographs to study, compare, and improve interpretation and investigative skills in dental office employees.
radiograph, salivary gland,
radiograph, stereoscopic
n a pair of radiographs of a structure made by shifting the position of the radiographic tube a few centimeters between each of two exposures. Such pairs provide a three-dimensional, or stereoscopic, presentation of the recorded images.
radiograph, Towne's projection,
n.pr the radiographic view of the mandibular condyles and the midfacial skeleton.

radiograph
the film produced by radiography.

scout radiograph
see survey radiograph.

radiograph
An x-ray; a film produced by X-ray
