Etymology: Gk, pleura + pneumon, lung
1 a combination of pleurisy and pneumonia.
2 an infection of cattle resulting in inflammation of both the pleura and lungs, caused by microorganisms of the Mycoplasma group. See also pleuropneumonia-like organism.

1. pneumonia accompanied by pleurisy; called also pneumopleuritis.
2. an infectious disease of cattle, combining pneumonia and pleurisy, due to Mycoplasma mycoides; see also pleuropneumonia-like organisms.
