concealed accessory pathway [kənsēld] Etymology: L, con, together, celare, to hide a connection between the atria and ventricles that is capable of retrograde conduction only. The electrocardiogram is normal (no delta wave) during sinus rhythm and is not associated with preexcitation, but the patient is prone to paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia caused by orthodromic circus movement tachycardia. Conduction into the ventricles is normal during atrial fibrillation because the accessory pathway does not conduct in that direction. How to thank TFD for its existence?
