I completed my mental health nurse training in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2000 and worked in community mental health before emigrating here with my family in 2007. The committee advises on matters relating to mental health, developmental disabilities and alcohol and drug abuse by reviewing major policies of the community mental health program and making recommendations. The bill would have directed the Department of Children and Families, in consultation with the Agency for Healthcare Administration, to create a community mental health and substance abuse forensic treatment system to divert people from state forensic hospitals and jails who are appropriate to receive competency restoration training in their communities at much less cost than in state facilities. |
