An autonomic plexus accompanying the common carotid artery and formed by fibers from the middle cervical ganglion.

common carotid plexus,
a network of nerves on the common carotid artery, supplying sympathetic fibers to the head and the neck, with branches that accompany the cranial blood vessels. The common carotid plexus is formed by the internal and external carotid plexuses and by the cervical ganglia of the sympathetic system.
