a nondirective method of group or individual psychotherapy, originated by Carl Rogers, in which the therapist's role is to listen to and then reflect or restate without judgment or interpretation the words of the client. The goal of the therapy is personal growth achieved by the client's increased awareness and understanding of his or her attitudes, feelings, and behavior.
