Salvia sclarea, Euphrasia officinalis; part used: oil from leaves and buds; uses: antiinflammatory, antispasmodic, sedative, astringent, menopause, premenstrual syndrome, exhaustion, adrenal stimulant, sore throat; precautions: pregnancy, lactation, children; patients with uterine, breast, or ovarian cancers, breast tumors, uterine fibroids; can cause sleepiness, headaches, increased menstruation. Also called
clary oil, clary sage, clear eye, eyebright, muscatel sage, orvale, see-bright, or
toute-bonne.
