cisapride (sis´prīd´),
n brand name: Propulsid;
drug class: oral prokinetic;
action: enhancement of acetylcholine release;
uses: symptomatic treatment and prophylaxis of nocturnal heartburn caused by gastroesophageal reflux disease.

cisapride
a substituted benzamide, similar to metoclopramide, which stimulates gastrointestinal motility. Used as an antiemetic by promoting gastric emptying.
