chyloid(redirected from chyloid effusion)
resembling the chyle that fills the lacteals of the small intestine during the digestion of fatty foods.
effusions, usually pleural, with a milky appearance, containing cholesterols or protein-lecithin compounds but not chylomicron globules, may be mistaken as chylous by their gross appearance. Seen in cats with cardiomyopathy or cardiac disease. Called also pseudochylous effusion.
