chlorinated organic insecticide poisoning, poisoning resulting from the inhalation, ingestion, or absorption of chlorophenothane (DDT) and other insecticides containing chlorophenothane, such as heptachlor, dieldrin, and chlordane. It is characterized by vomiting, weakness, malaise, convulsions, tremors, ventricular fibrillation, respiratory failure, and pulmonary edema. Also called DDT poisoning.
