Muller and his coworkers observed the Ugandan chimp community of 12 males and 17 females from 1996 until 2003. Los Angeles Zoo curators, keepers and veterinarians on Wednesday recalled the seven-hour effort to save Judeo, the 28-year-old chimp who died July 26 after the first rattlesnake bite ever to occur at the zoo's house of primates. A team of scientists who made breakthroughs in research involving human and chimp genomes will be attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week with philanthropist Eli Broad for a new Broad Institute building in Cambridge, Mass. |
