charlier shoe

a special horseshoe which fits into a groove taken out of the bearing surface of the hoof wall. There is no toe clip and the shoe is narrow and light in weight. It is not a work shoe but intended to protect the hoof while the horse is resting for a period. Called also periplantar shoe.
