cer·ti·fied milk

cow's milk that does not have more than the maximal permissible limit of 10,000 bacteria per mL at any time prior to delivery to the consumer, and that must be cooled to 10°C or less and maintained at that temperature until delivery.

certified milk

raw milk that is obtained, handled, and marketed in compliance with state health laws. The milk must be produced by disease-free cows that are regularly inspected by a veterinarian and are milked by sterilized equipment in hygienic surroundings. It must contain less than a specified low bacterial count. The sale of raw milk is illegal in some states.

certified milk

Raw (unpasteurised) milk approved by a non-governmental affiliate of the raw milk industry. As it is not pasteurised—a process that minimises the risk of infections—certified milk has not been approved by the USDA or other governmental body.
